A Ghanian textile, originating from Bonwire in the Ashanti region. Made of handwoven cloth, with strips of silk and cotton, and embroidered animals and abstract shapes. Historically these textiles were worn in a toga-like fashion by royalty among the Akan. . In modern
day Ghana, the wearing of kente cloth has become widespread to
commemorate special occasions.
